Tobyhanna Township is a township in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,152 at the 2000 census. Tobyhanna Township has Tobyhanna Elementary Center and Locust Lake Village.

Tobyhanna is derived from an American Indian word meaning "a stream whose banks are fringed with alder", i.e. the [[Tobyhanna Creek]]. Legally, Tobyhanna Township, was incorporated from [[Coolbaugh Township, Pennsylvania|Coolbaugh Township]] in 1830.
